I needed some inspiration. I was craving something different. And this awesome family gave me the inspiration I was hoping for by allowing me to capture a Saturday morning breakfast. I love the story these photos tell of a laid back morning... making pancakes and memories. So simple and real. ♥
One question I ask in my pre-session questionnaire: What would you like to remember about this time in your lives? One of the things this mama mentioned was the craziness - that life isn't picture perfect and she wanted to remember that. That really stuck with me and I knew this was going to be a fun session. I love to capture "real life" moments like these - it's what inspires me.
Believe it or not I'm really really bad about taking personal photos during the holidays so surprisingly my December "Impressions" post isn't holiday related at all. Besides the professional family photos we have taken every year, I like to stay behind the lens. I'm rarely "camera-ready" and feel lucky if I get a shower and my teeth brushed. But it hit me recently that one day my children will look back on all the candid photos I take of them and wonder "Where's Mom??". SO I forced myself to set up my camera the best I could and take a few snapshots of us with my wireless remote. They're not perfect at all - the focus is off, my son isn't wearing pants, and my hair is sloppy, but my kids won't care about that when they look at these photos 20 years from now.
Now head over to Vinita's blog and see her impressions from December.
This was so much FUN!! I love that this mama wanted to capture their personalities on their favorite playground. ♥
‘Impressions‘ is a creative project by an eclectic group of female photographers from around the globe. We aim to share the inspiration behind what we do through our monthly posts. On the 8th of each month, we will be sharing images that tell the story of what inspired us in the previous weeks: our families, nature, weather, or maybe even work itself! We are free to explore the meaning of ‘impressions’, and it is likely to change month to month. I missed last month's post because I was busy with a newborn so I'm cheating a little bit and going to share more starting with my little girl's birth.

Love this couple and can not wait to meet their sweet baby girl! ♥
Playing in the water hose is one of my son's favorite things to do! These photos capture my sweet boy perfectly at this age and they make my heart happy. ♥ I'm going to miss this when Summer ends...
Here's another precious family that I've had the pleasure to photograph over and over. It doesn't seem like that long ago when I was there at the birth of their second child and now she's one!! Where does the time go?!
Capturing this family playing together was so much fun! I love when I get to photograph a family over and over and watch the child grow in so many ways!! :)
I love this family!!! They're beautiful inside and out! It's been a total pleasure photographing them the past couple of years and having Lauren photograph my family in return is an extra perk. ;) Thanks again Lauren!!
Our first try at this session, a thunderstorm chased us away. When we returned the next week, beautiful sunshine and happy baby smiles were abundant!! Lucky us!! :)
I'm always honored to be invited to be a part of such an amazing "first" in the lives of a family. Amazing couple. Awesome family surrounding them. Beautiful baby boy. I love birth photography! ♥
Sighhh... another sweet birth. I enjoyed getting to know this couple during this process and loved watching them become parents!
Sometimes it's the simplest sessions that I love most - just baby, Mommy, and Daddy hanging out at home. Isn't this family adorable??
I was so excited to be there to welcome my sweet friend's baby girl into this world!! I can't say enough about how much I love photographing births - the entire experience is amazing and priceless.
Here's part 2 from this summer session. When the splash pad downtown just didn't work out for some wet summer fun, we decided to have some bubble bath fun instead.. And it was my favorite part! I just love how simple and genuine these photos are - just 2 sweet girls having fun in the tub and on Mommmy and Daddy's bed. ♥
Here's part 1 of this family session - We walked around downtown reading, swinging, and snacking along the way. Such a fun family! Part 2 leads us to their house for some bubble fun. :) Stay tuned. :)
This sweetie would only sleep for his session in his Mommy and Daddy's arms. No matter what we tried those eyes would pop open when he wasn't in their arms. He just knows what he wants. ;) And how can you resist those sweet eyes?!
